Nine-Eleven Hijackings occur.

Two groups of Islamic terrorists hijack American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175 from Logan Airport. They crash the planes into the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City at 8:46 a.m. and 9:03 respectively. Meanwhile, a third group hijacks American Airlines Flight 77 from Dulles Airport in Washington, D.C. and crashes it into the Pentagon at 9:37 a.m. A fourth group hijacks United Flight 93 from Newark Airport, intending to crash it into the U.S. Capitol, but after the crew and passengers resist, it crashes in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, at 10:03 a.m. A total of 2,997 people are killed in the four crashes.
